It is surreal to see the Ken Burns pans filled with police lights in my old stomping ground on national news outlets. I lived less than three miles from Seelye Ford and Cracker Barrel where innocent people were shot Saturday night.
Violence, whether the most motivated and planned, or the seemingly random, is a constant reminder of the need for love. It is important not to dwell on “what if?” But to ask “what now?” Tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, I must demonstrate the true selfless love that only comes from Christ. That is the only way that a semblance of peace can come after such tragedy.
And for Kalamazoo, I pray…
May the God of peace make Himself known and glorified amidst your pain.
May the God of grace give the victim’s families eventual relief from that pain.
And may the God of mercy provide both justice and redemption for Mr. Dalton.
I love you, Kazoo. Hang in there.
